George Huey is a landscape, travel, and natural history photographer, who has been called a ‘visual poet of the Southwest’ by the National Geographic Society.

His photographs range from heroic images of the Western Landscape, to delicate natural details, as well as evocative scenes of international travel destinations. He also photographs environmental issues and is passionate about visually interpreting our remaining wild lands. With a degree in Fine Arts and a background in black and white photography, he now works mostly in color in all formats, using film and digital capture.

George’s clients include Delta Airlines, Kaiser Permanente, LL Bean, Marriott International, Siemans, Patagonia, Norm Thompson, The Territory Ahead, Coleman, and the U.S. Postal Service. His work has appeared in dozens of magazines both here and abroad, such as Architectural Digest, Arizona Highways, Audubon, Backpacker, Business Week, Cowboys & Indians, Conde Nast Traveler, French Geo, German Geo, Islands, Men’s Journal, National Geographic, National Geographic Adventure, National Geographic Traveler, National Wildlife, Natural History, Newsweek, Outside, Sierra, Spa, Sunset, Time, and Travel & Leisure.

His books include, ‘Mesa Verde: The Living Park’, ‘The Southwest: God, Gold & Grandeur’, published by the National Geographic Society, in addition to two volumes in the National Geographic Guide to America’s Outdoors series, ‘Southern Rockies’ and ‘Southwest’.  He also photographed ‘Wild Cactus’, published by Artisan/Workman, and books about Texas’ Padre Island National Seashore, California’s Channel Islands National Park, and Utah’s Canyonlands National Park.  George’s work has appeared in books by most major publishers, including Abrams, Chronicle, Crown, Dorling Kindersley, Fodor’s, Harcourt Brace, Houghton Mifflin, Insight Guides, Random House, Sierra Club, Smithsonian, Stewart Tabori & Chang, and Time-Life.

He lives on a sailboat with his wife and two cats.
